GM Stock Flat Amid Vehicle Recall Over Fire Safety Concerns
General Motors shares showed little movement despite a recall of 62,468 Chevrolet Silverado vehicles due to a brake pressure sensor defect that could lead to electrical shorts and potential fires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warned the issue could cause underhood fires even when vehicles are unattended.
The recall affects certain 2019-2024 models, with about 1% expected to exhibit the defect. GM has advised owners to park outdoors until repairs are completed. This follows April's global recall of 721,000 SUVs and trucks, compounding the automaker's quality control challenges.
